To Study the Cardiovascular Manifestations of Hypothyroidism

Abstract

Hypothyroidism is a syndrome characterized by clinical and biochemical manifestations of thyroid hormone1 deficiencies in target tissues. It has multi systemic involvement among which cardiovascular manifestations are well known.

This study was done to detect and analyze the cardiovascular manifestations of hypothyroidism and their response to treatment with Levothyroxine.

This study was carried out in the department of medicine, Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH), Patna over 100 patients of newly diagnosed hypothyroidism during February 2015 to January 2016.

This study included a total of 100 newly diagnosed patients of hypothyroidism. There was a female preponderance (75%) and most common in 4th decade of life. After 6 months of treatment with Levothyroxine, Cardiovascular manifestations showed significant improvement.
