50 male and 40 females aged between 35–52 were studied. Their anxiety related to various medical disorders. In males, 18(36%) were due to drug withdrawl, 20(40%) were MI, 8(16%) hypoglycemia and 4(8%) had pulmonary embolism. In females 12(30%) had thyrotoxicosis, 8(20%) had MI, 15(37.5%) hypoglycemia, 5(12.5%)had pulmonary embolism. In study of panic disorder, 12 males (24%) and 7 females (17.5%) had panic disorder with the symptoms of palpation, fear, sweating, chest pain. 15 males (30%) and 9 females (22.5%) had generalized anxiety disorder. OCD was seen in 8 males (16%) and 15 females (37.5%) with symptoms of repeated thoughts or acts resulting in anxiety. Males 9(18%) and females 5 (12.5%) had post traumatic anxiety with symptoms of recurrent thoughts and increased. In males 6(12%), females 4(10%) had phobic disorders, like agarophobia, social phobia with symptoms like fear of object or situation. This study of anxiety disorders is not only important to psychiatrist but also to physicians, surgeons, cardiologist because anxiety related to medical emergency like MI, pulmonary embolism, drug withdrawal syndrome or thyrotoxocis etc.
