Rhizobium radiobacter isolated from community acquired Pneumonia-A rare encounter

A rare case of Rhizobium radiobacter as a cause of community acquired pneumonia is described. Immunocompetent young male presented with two weeks of fever and cough. Symptoms did not respond to ten days of Amoxycillin-clavulanic acid combination. Chest x-ray was apparently normal. Segmental lung consolidation on both sides were detected on CT scan and bronchoscopic lavage was obtained. Rhizobium radiobacter was isolated from culture. Patient responded to quinolone to which organism was reported to be sensitive.
