Anemia is a very common health problem in India as well as in many parts of the world. Pediatric age group is the most vulnerable age group specially below 5-year-old children. We conducted this study to evaluate the prevalence of anemia in children from 6 months to 59 months. This study was conducted in Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Science (IGIMS), Patna, over period of 1 year from January 2017 to December 2017. It was a cross sectional study and total of 540 pediatric cases were enrolled. Out of 540 children 305 were boy and 235 were girl children. We collected all relevant data during admission in pediatric department of IGIMS hospital. Anemia was defined as per the stander WHO criteria. Hemoglobin level of <11 gram/dl was taken cut off level to consider as anemic. We documented prevalence of anemia among study age group to be 68%. Anemia was more common in male children than in female children. Anemia was well correlated with poor nutritional status of children. Anemia was more common in pediatrics case admitted with diarrhea.
