To assess knowledge and practice regarding tracheostomy care among the nurses of Manipal Teaching Hospital, Pokhara.
The descriptive survey approach was used. The study was conducted among 100 nurses in Manipal Teaching Hospital, Pokhara. The tools used were socio-demographic Proforma, structured knowledge and practice questionnaire. Data was collected by self structured questionnaire on tracheostomy care using purposive sampling technique. Data analysis was done using descriptive and inferential statistics.
Most of the nurses were of age group less than 25 years (74%), most of them were SLC passed (97%), most of them were of Post certificate level (97%) and majority of them had years of experience less than 5 years. Most of them had average knowledge (77%), most of them had good practice (53%). There is no significant association between selected demographic variables and knowledge & Practice. There is positive correlation between knowledge and practice.
This study thus concluded that the nurses had average knowledge and good practice regarding tracheostomy care.
