Abstract

Prevalence of rotavirus specific antibody was studied in different age groups of pigs reared at various managemental conditions. An indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbant assay (ELISA) was used to screen the serum samples. A total of 416 sera of pigs collected from different age groups and farming system were tested for presence of rotavirus (RV) specific antibodies. Out of 416 sera, 307 (73.80%) were found positive. The highest seroprevalence was recorded in adult pigs of more than eight months of age (85.48%) than any other age groups and in pigs reared under organized semi-intensive farming (77.52%) as compared to unorganized semi-intensive and open range system of rearing.
