Isolation of Campylobacter jejuni was attempted from rectal swabs of sheep (200) meat surface swabs of lamb carcasses (200). A total of 61 isolates were obtained. The recovery of Campylobacter jejuni was high from lamb meat surface swabs (21%) compared to rectal swabs (9.5%). Majority of the isolates belonged to Biotype I and few belonged to Biotype II. All the isolates were sensitive to enrofloxacin and nalidixic acid. Sources of Campylobacter jejuni contamination to lamb meat, hygienic measures to be adopted, and risk to human health have been discussed.
