Mastitis is one of the major intramammary gland infection responsible for vast per cent of economic losses to dairy industry. The inflammatory response involves both the antimicrobial factors and the migration of leucocytes. Cytokines are the major intracellular mobilisers and regulators and are crucial for detecting of subclinical mastitis. Cytokines find application as both diagnosis and prognosis tools. Recombinant cytokines find application as immuno modulator in mastitis treatment.
