Extractions of Jatropha curcas, Solanum nigrum, Melia azadirachta and Curcuma longa were studied for their curative ability for the skin infection caused by Pseudomonas putida in Clarias batrachus. Among these four different plant leaf extracts, S. nigrum produced the maximum zone of inhibition. The maximum inhibition zone appeared in the leaf extracts of S. nigrum using ethanol (20.8 ± 3 mm), that of ethyl acetate and chloroform (8.2 ± 1.3 mm; 6.1 ± 0.99 mm), respectively. The dip treatment is given to the infected fish for 10 min in 2 days interval and within 30 days they were recovered from the infection of P. putida. The present study indicates that after the dip treatment with S. nigrum, C. batrachus exhibited a significant increase in Red Blood Corpuscles, Haemoglobin and Packed Cell Volume. So the S. nigrum ethanol extract was found to be the most effective in the infection caused by P. pudita in C. batrachus.
