The 16S rRNA gene sequencing along with bioinformatic analysis has played an important role in identification of bacterial species, especially, when the target is not defined. The present study has applied 16S rRNA sequencing on two nasal swabs from goats with nasal discharge and respiratory disease symptoms. Both these sequences were 100% identical and showed >99.37% similarity with Streptococcus entericus sp. nov. This study indicated that nasal tract of goats could possibly be colonised by S. entericus and that its role in pathophysiology will be worth investigation.
