Use of Cognitive-behaviour Therapy in Obsessive Compulsive Disorder: A Case Report

Obsessive compulsive disorder patients tend to respond to medication with only a 30–60 per cent symptom reduction and patients tend to remain chronically symptomatic to some degree. In recent years seelctive serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI ‘s) and cognitive-behaviour therapy (CBT) combined treatments have proven effective. The present case report attempts to highlight the effects of a combined treatment of CBT and chemotherpy on OCD and depressive features of a 35 years old male, who was non responsive to various pharmacological treatment. The combined treatment, resulted in significant improvement. The patient remained under follow-up for four months and was found functioning normally.
