Abstract

Traumatic experiences are often associated with affective arousal therefore these memories do not get stored in normal way as those of the non-traumatic experiences. This is why such memories are often so resistant to change, and keep disturbing the victim, A wide range of psychopathology is associated with such experiences. Information-processing paradigms, based on cognitive-experimental tradition, have been used recently to explain the nature of processing deficits in these victims, Today usc of advanced neuropsychological testing, such as use of modified Stroop Test, neurodiagnostic techniques like jMRI and psychophysiological techniques such as event-related evoked potential have opened up new avenues of understanding of these processes. The present article highlights some of the recent advances in the field
