The present study was conducted to evaluate the psychotherapeutic efficacy of Shavasana as a treatment strategy in management of generalized anxiety, and to evaluate the comparative efficacy of Shavasana and muscular relaxation as compared to treatment as usual (TAU). Thirty patients of generalized anxiety disorder diagnosed on the basis of ICD-10 were assigned to three treatment conditions (10 participant in each condition), i.e., Shavasana with treatment as usual, muscular relaxation with treatment as usual, and treatment as usual. Treatment schedules were conducted for 35 sessions regularly over a period of 5 week (three training sessions, 32 home-based sessions). Results show that all treatment techniques have reduced generalized anxiety significantly, however, Shavasana with treatment as usual was found more effective in comparison to muscular relaxation with treatment as usual and only treatment as usual.
