Abstract

The “Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016” is revised PWD Act which was enacted in 1995. Importantly, the list of disabilities has been expanded from 7 to 21 conditions. The new Act addresses “Rights and entitlement of persons with disabilities, education, skill development, employment, duties and responsibilities of Government besides guidelines for assessment and certification of disabilities etc.”. The critical appraisal of the Act is given briefly in this article.
