Oral granulomatous lesion includes those which are characterised by the presence of granulomas like in tuberculosis, leprosy etc. and also those without the formation of granulomas but with a prominent proliferation of granulation tissue. Orofacial granulomatosis (OFG) comprises a group of diseases characterized by noncaseating granulomatous inflammation affecting the soft tissues of the oral and maxillofacial region. This term, introduced by Wiesenfeld in 1985, encompasses Melkersson- Rosenthal syndrome (MRS) and cheilitis granulomatosa (CG) of Miescher. Herein we present a review of granulomatous inflammation of the oral cavity.
