Verrucous papillary lesions (VPLs) of oral cavity are diagnostically challenging as they include a spectrum of benign, potentially malignant, and frankly malignant lesions. One of the verrucous papillary lesions commonly encountered is Verrucous Carcinoma (VC) a rare variant of well differentiated squamous cell carcinoma that has some unique characteristics. This paper documents a case report of verrucous carcinoma of the tongue and reviews the dilemmas in diagnosis and terminology of these verrucous papillary lesions.
