Ductal Carcinoma in situ and Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Arising within Benign Phyllodes Tumor: A Case Report

Abstract

Phyllodes tumors (PT) of breast are rare, and are composed of stromal and epithelial elements. Malignant transformation of PT usually occurs in the stromal component. Breast carcinoma (BC) arising from epithelial element within a PT is a rare event. The coexistence of PT and BC includes two patterns; a separate coexistence within an ipsilateral or contralateral breast, and a BC arising within PT. The present case was the latter type, a DCIS & IDC arising in a benign PT.
