Study of absolute eosinophilic count and peak expiratory flow rate in smokers of both sexes in Maharashtra population

Abstract

In the present study 50 male and 30 female smokers were selected for study. The heart rate mean value for in males was 81.72 (SD ± 1.65) which was compared with unpaired ‘t’ test value was-13.33 and statisti-cally highly significant (p<0.0) PEFR values per minutes in male was 0.45 (SD±0.1) and in female 0.04(SD ±0.01) ‘t’ test value was 132 and p value was highly significant (p<0.01). Mean value of absolute Eosinophilic count was 550.3 (SD± 6.60) in males, 404.5(SD±2.34) in females and ‘t’ test value was 115.1 and statistically highly significant(p<0.1) and correlation between heart rate and PEFR in female was 0.37 and male was-0.10 which was highly significant ‘P’ value (P<0.01). This study in smokers in both sexes will be certainly help the pathologist, physician to correlate those values and treat the patients efficiently.
