TO study the visual outcome both far & near vision, spectacle independence and subjective symptoms of glare & halos in patients with manual small incision cataract surgery with MFIOL
A prospective study was conducted on 100 eyes of 70 patients who under went manual SICS with MFIOL (diffractive type).
The patient were evaluated post operatively on 1st day, 1 week, 2nd week, 1 month, 2 month, 3rd month for distant vision, near vision, subjective symptoms of halos and glare
80% of patient had distant visual acuity 6/6, 20% had 6/9.75% had near vision of N 6, 20% had N8, 5% N12.70% of the patient were spectacle independent. 10% of patients had glare & halos
Patient with multifocal IOL experienced reduced spectacle dependence with good satisfaction despite some reports of halos. Hence manual SICS with MFIOL is an effective alternative to phacoemulsification with multifocal IOL in developing world with good visual outcome
