Osteoarthritis (OA) also known as degenerative arthritis or degenerative joint disease, is a group of mechanical abnormalities involving degradation of joints, including articular cartilage and subchondral bone. The aim of the study focuses on reduction of symptoms and increase in functional activities of elderly patients with osteoarthritis of knees before and after modalities of, yoga, naturopathy and physiotherapy.
A total of 30 patients were recruited in the study and intervention was given for six months. Patients were recruited under the study according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria after taking their consent as per American College of Osteoarthritis Association guidelines.
A significant improvement was observed in morning stiffness, Pain (VAS), SF-12, MMT and Vitamin D3 level of intervention group patients at 6th month as compared to baseline (p<0.03).
Combined package of Yoga, Naturopathy and Physiotherapy with diet control is effective in reducing pain, morning stiffness, improving Vitamin D3 level and functional status of elderly people suffering from Osteoarthritis of Knees.
