Perforative peritonitis is one of the most common surgical emergency in India with considerable morbidity and mortality. The main objective of our study is to compare the gastrointestinal perforations with respect to incidence, age distribution, gender, site of perforation, and other parameters. A retrospective analysis of patients with perforation peritonitis over a period of two consecutive years is made.
In our series of cases we found Duodenal perforations (52.5%) to be of most common followed by gastric and ileal (17.5%), Appendicular (10%), Jejunal(0.25%) perforation.
