Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic autoimmune multisystem disorder with a wide range of disease manifestations, and can lead to significant morbidity and even mortality. In general, the disease in children has a more aggressive course and need for prolonged treatment is frequent. This article reviews the epidemiology, clinical features, complications of disease, and available treatment options.
