Proper visualisation of laryngeal anatomy is vital while dealing with disorders of larynx. There are a number of methods described for its visualisation ranging from indirect mirror laryngoscopy to virtual laryngoscopy.
Our goal is to evaluate the feasibility and accuracy of videogastroscope to diagnose structural and functional disorder of larynx in cases of unsatisfactory laryngoscopy.
During a course of one year from june 2014 to june 2015, 43 patients of inadequate indirect laryngoscopy were referred to surgery department for laryngoscopy with videogastroscope.
31 patients were found with positive findings. Among them vocal cord polyp was most common finding(11 out of 31). Mean time taken for whole procedure was 12.6 min without any complication.
We have found laryngoscopy with videogastroscope as safe, feasible and highly accurate in diagnosis of laryngeal disorder.
Direct laryngoscopy, indirect laryngoscopy, videogastroscope, virtual laryngoscopy
