Preeclampsia is one of the most common complications of pregnancy and it is associated with a state of hypercoagulability.
determination the plasma fibrinogen and plasma fibrin degradation product (FDP) in preeclamptic pregnant women.
This study included normal pregnant women (n=66) and preeclamptic women (n=74) in their third trimester. Both Preeclamptic group was further divided into two subgroups mild (n=52) and severe (n=22) preeclampsia.
The levels of plasma fibrinogen and plasma FDP between normal pregnant women and preeclamptic pregnant women was highly significant (p<0.0001).
The levels of plasma fibrinogen and plasma FDP were increased between normal pregnant and preeclamptic pregnant, which indicated that increased levels are responsible for exaggerated inflammatory responses in preeclampsia and the endothelial activation.
