Acute right iliac fossa pain is a common problem especially in females. To avoid complications early diagnosis& surgical intervention is necessary. To avoid negative laparotomy diagnostic laparoscopy is very useful approach especially in females.
To evaluate potential advantages of diagnostic laparoscopy in patients with acute right iliac fossa pain including acute appendicitis, appendicular abscess, appendicular perforation, early appendicular lump and nonapppendicial lesions where diagnosis is in doubt.
Prospective study from November 2012 to March 2014.

All patients undergoing diagnostic laparoscopy & appendectomy.
Total 46 patients were included in study. 24 (37.5%) patients were of acute appendicitis. Complicated appendix (abscess, perforation, lump) was found in 9(14.1%) patients. Normal looking appendix was found in 3 (4.6%) patients. Nonappendiceal lesions were found in 10 (15.6%) patients.
Ideal approach in acute right iliac fossa pain including doubtful cases of acute appendicitisis diagnostic laparoscopy & appendectomy rather than open appendectomy alone. Diagnostic laparoscopy and appendectomy offers all the benefits of minimally invasive surgery like less pain, shorter hospital stay, early return to work, better-cosmesis, lower infection rate and diagnosis and treatment of nonappendiceal lesion.
