Sacrococcygeal pilonidal sinus is a common disease of the adult age group, especially male population, causing significant morbidity from both disease and surgery done for the same. Various surgical techniques have been described, each having its limitation.
Study evaluates the use of limbergs flap in pilonidal sinus disease.
Between Jan 2012 to july 2016 we performed this procedure on 52 patients. All the pts underwent limbergs flap.
In this study 52 patients were included. Among them 48 were males and 4 were females. Mean age was 24 years (range 15–29 years). Of the 52 patients, 28 had primary disease, 12 had recurrent disease, and 12 came up after having previous incision and drainage for abscess. All but one patients wound healed nicely with minimal scarring, with very less postoperative pain, with no recurrence so far. None needed readmission due to pilonidal sinus, and most patients returned to work after 3 weeks.
Limbergs falp is the ideal treatment modality for PSD. It has excellent cosmetic result low recurrence rate and early return to work.
