To compare clinical and hormone profile in PCOS versus Non PCOS and to ascertain their correlation with AMH
In this prospective case-control study, a total of 90 patients attending Gynaecology OPD of Dr RML Hospital, New Delhi from 1st November 2015 to 31st March 2017 were enrolled. The patients were divided into two equal study groups of 45 each: PCOS cases diagnosed using Rotterdam criteria and Non PCOS controls. Clinical history, examination included Ferriman Gallwey score, BMI, investigations included blood for FSH, LH, estradiol, TFT, prolactin, total testosterone, AMH levels and Transabdominal ultrasound, were done for all the women.
Difference in mean age and BMI in PCOS and Non PCOS were not statistically significant. Mean FG score, LH, prolactin and LH/FSH was statistically higher and serum FSH levels were statistically lower in PCOS than non PCOS. Mean AMH levels of 6.08ng/ml in PCOS was twice that in Non PCOS (p<0.0001). In total study population, AMH levels was positively correlated with FG score, LH/FSH and negatively with FSH. In PCOS a positive correlation of AMH to FG score, TSH and negative correlation with cycles/year or Oligomenorrhea was observed. No correlation of AMH with any of the clinical or hormonal parameters was observed in Non PCOS.
Oligomenorrhea was the commonest complaint in PCOS. FG score and AMH were significantly higher in PCOS. In PCOS, AMH had a positive correlation with FG score and negative correlation with menstrual cycles/year.
