Study of Preoperative Anemia in Rajasthan Population of both sexes

Abstract

40 males and females adult aged between 25 to 58 years suffering with Hb% 13 g/dl in Males and Hb%12.g/dl in females who were about undergo major surgeries selected for study, the main cause of anemia in both sexes was under production RBC in males 19 (45.5%) and destruction of RBC was 21(52.5%) in males, 11(27.5%) in females. Etiology of anemia in both sexes with parentage was GIT (Haematamasis, Hematochezia) 3(7.5%) in males, 2(5%)) in females, gents urinary, (Haematuria) 4(10%) in Males and 5(12.5%) in females, menstrual (menorragia) 5(12.5%) in females Respiratory tract (Haemoptysis, Epistaxsis) 3(7.5%) in males 2(5%) in females Malignancy 4(10%) IN MALES 5(12.5%) in females HIV 4(10%) in both Males and females liver disease 5(12.5%) in males 4(10%) in female celiac disease (Intestinal mal absorption) 4(10%) in males, 3(7.5%) in female prolong administration of antibiotic 2(5%) in males 1(2.5%) in males, family history (sickle cell anemia, hereditary spherocytosis 2(5%) in males, 3(7.5%) in females Under nutritional status 6(15%) 9(22.5%) in males and females common peripheral smear finding associated with disease are in both sexes schistocytes (Hemolytic anemia) 6(15%) in males, 5(12.5%) in females spherocytes (Hereditary, auto immune) 2 (5%) in males 3(7.5%) in females sickle cell (SCD) 5(12.5%) in males 4(10%) in females Blur cells (chronic renal failure) 6(15%) in males and 2(5%) in females Target cell (Iron deficiency Anemia) 8(20%) in males and 12(30%) in females nucleated |RBC (Severe hemolysis) 6(15%) in males, 4(10%) in females Blast cell. (leukemia, lymphoma, myelodysplasia) 3(7.5%) in males, 5(12.5%0 in females smudge cells (chronic lymphocytic (leukemia) 4(10%) in males 5(12.5%) in females this study of different (causes and various etiology of ammonia peripheral smear binding certainly help the surgeon, physician to rectify the pre-existing anemia at the earliest before surgery because blood transfusion has high risk of infection, morbidity and mortality
