Abstract

Bochdalek Hernia (BH) is a type of congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH). The condition is infrequent in adults and at times very difficult to diagnose because of nonspecific symptoms and signs. About 100 cases of Bochdalek Hernia (BH) have been reported so far in the literature, out of which only less than 20 cases of right sided Bochdalek Hernia have been reported. Adult patients are either asymptomatic, have minimal respiratory symptoms or acute gastrointestinal symptoms. We present an interesting case of right sided BH in an adult female where the whole length of jejunum, ileum, caecum, appendix and ascending colon was found in right hemi-thorax. Case was diagnosed with the help of clinical examination, chest x-ray and CT scan. Early diagnosis of CDH in adults with timely intervention shows good prognosis leading to reduction in morbidity and mortality.
