The main advantage of employing prestressed concrete for bridges lies in attaining longer span lengths giving the bridge designers a great leverage in choosing bridge schemes duly accounting for site conditions. A thorough understanding of various design parameters and codal provisions is a absolute necessity for design of these prestressed concrete structures.
