Abstract

Field experiments were carried out during rabi season of 2017–18, 2018–19 and 2019–2020, at Agricultural Research Station, Kovilpatti, to evaluate the suitability and economic viability of crop geometry and foliar nutrition on growth and yield of green gram under rainfed conditions. The experiment was laid out in split plot design with three replications, comprising four main plot treatments (crop geometry) and four sub plot treatments (foliar nutrition). The variety used was Co (Gg) 8. The results revealed that the crop geometry of 25 x 10 cm spacing combined with foliar nutrition spray of 1% Urea + 2% DAP + 1% KCl recorded significantly taller plant height, seed yield of 780 kg ha−1, which is 50.57% increased yield over crop geometry level of 30 x 15 cm along with no spray (518 kg ha−1) under rainfed vertisol conditions resulting in higher economic return.
