Abstract

Vorticity methods have certain advantages over primitive variable formulations for the analysis of exterior, incompressible fluid flows about bluff bodies. However, since the pressure is eliminated in vorticity formulations, the calculation of the resultant forces can be problematic. A relatively simple procedure is developed in this research to recover the surface pressure distribution, and hence, calculate the resultant lift and drag experienced by bluff bodies.
