This paper examines the motion of the liquid free surface due to sloshing in partially filled three-dimensional rectangular and cylindrical containers to define the effect of geometry of the containers on slosh response. If slosh waves are excited, high and low frequency oscillations in the liquid are produced. The purpose of this analysis is to present a sophisticated, straightforward approach to the mathematical description of the effects of liquid sloshing in axisymmetric and non-axisymmetric containers. The time dependent behavior of partially filled containers is simulated by solution of the wave equations subjected to the initial and boundary condition using finite element technique.
