Theoretical model for window zone heat transfer coefficient for liquid flow in shell-and-tube heat exchanger has been developed. Further an effort has been made to consider the actual flow pattern in the shell. For validation we have determined area average total shell-side heat transfer coefficient, for which the models available in literature have also been used. Finally the values of convective heat transfer coefficient have been computed for entire heat exchanger for shell-side and compared with experimental results. The present model results are more close to experimental values than other models.
