Abstract

Educational data mining (EDM) contemplates to interdisciplinary research area that deliberates with the advancement of miscellaneous methods to discover educational data produced from heterogeneous sources. The mined data can be expedient to ameliorate teaching, learning experiences and consequently help in refining the institutional effectiveness. Various studies on EDM and interdisciplinary areas have discovered that immense progress has been done in various domains of academia, but there still exists deficiency in this direction which needs to be investigated in holistic manner. Therefore, this paper provides a concise description and applicability of various techniques and tools applied in the domains of academia and subsequently, based on the reviewed literature, identifies further avenues and directions for research in the realm of EDM.
