Analysis and Predictions on Students’ Academic Performance Using ID3 Algorithm

Abstract

The present world is ruled by cutting edge technology where every service sector wants to improve their efficiency and productivity. Higher education and teaching is one segment where implementing innovative technology is vital for overall development. Quality of education provided by an institution depends on the level of awareness that the management team have on individual student's abilities. Abilities of the students can be classified into many different classifications, and in this research paper, we concentrate on those abilities that make a student successful in terms of his academic skills. This paper mainly concentrates on implementing ID3 decision tree classifier algorithm to predict an individual student's academic performance by generating a model. Moreover, our proposed work can categorise students based on their learning abilities and picking-up skills and the results can be used to effectively channelise the various available resources in organisation and to develop a weak student's learning abilities and to polish the quick learning student's skills.
