Kargil district of J&K State was surveyed during 2007–2008 to record the insect fauna belonging to family Carabidae and Tenebrionidae (Coleoptera). Lebia sp., Amara, sp., Bembidion sp., Calosoma sp. (Carabidae) and Gonocephalum sp., Blaps sp., & and Cyphogenia sp. (Tenebrionidae) belonging to two superfamilies and five subfamilies were recorded. Their distribution and diagnostic features are also documented.
