An experiment was conducted during 2004–05, 2005–06 and 2006–07 to find out the effective and economical dose of cartap hydrochloride against sugarcane shoot borer and top borer (2nd brood) at Sugarcane Research Institute, Shahjahanpur (U.P.). It is concluded that soil application of cartap hydrochloride after 45 days of planting reduced the incidence of both shoot borer and top borer in spring planted crop and increased cane yield, with a net profit of Rs. 22622/- with cartap hydrochloride 4Gr @ 25.0 kg/ha.
