Abstract

Four plants viz, Vitex negundo L. (Lagundi), Lantana camara Linn., (Aripple), Lippia geminate HBK (Wild sage) and Clerodendron siphonanthus R. Br. were evaluated for their bioefficacy against grubs and adults of hadda beetle, Henosepilachna vigintiopunctata (F.) under field conditions. Petroleum ether extracts of V. negundo (seeds) proved significantly superior in causing high mortality (69.02%) of grubs and adults of followed by leaves extract of V. negundo (66.59%) and C. siphonanthus (57.07%) and Lantana unripe fruit and leaves extract (54.09 and 53.55%). Rest of the extracts showed superiority to the control whereas Lippia bark extract was least effective. Toxic effect of Vitex negundo was due to glucononital, Z- heptatriacontanone and p- hydroxybenzoic acid.
