Abstract

Fumigation is one of the most effective methods to control the storage insects, but it is effective only when fumigation is done with desired fumigant at the right quantity at normal temperature and moisture content with minimum exposure period, so as to avoid adverse effects on seed quality. Among fumigants, aluminium phosphide is considered as one of the safest, as it is not having any deleterious effect on seed quality. Ethylene dibromide has also been found to be equally effective.
