Abstract

Studies on the occurrence and management of pollu beetle, Lanka ramakrishnai Prathapan and Viraktamath (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) infesting black pepper (Piper nigrum L.) in the Andaman Islands is critically reviewed. Based on published literature and direct and indirect evidences, it is concluded that pollu beetle does not occur in the Andaman Islands. As the concerned publications exemplify improbity, relevance of the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines for the National Research System in India is discussed.
