Population dynamics of Schizotetranychus baltazari rimando on acid lime

Abstract

Surveys were undertaken on the infestation of mite Schizotetranychus baltazari Rimando on acid lime in Bijapur, Gulbarga, Bagalkot and Belgaum districts during 2012–2013. These revealed that in Northern Karnataka, the mite incidence was severe. Maximum number of grade I marketable fruits were recorded from Belgaum and minimum in Bijapur (2012–13). Highest number of mite infested fruits was observed in Bijapur and least in Belgaum. The peak in its population was noticed during May II fortnight, whereas it was lowest during November II fortnight (2012–13) in Jumnal and Tadavalaga villages, respectively. There was positive and significant correlation between mites and temperature, whereas a negative correlation was observed with relative humidity and rainfall. Maximum number of infested fruits were observed in April to May and least during November.
