Records of ladybeetles (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) from hilly regions of Nepal

Twenty-seven species of lady beetles (Coccinellidae) from 20 genera, 6 subfamilies and 8 tribes, were observed occurring in the two hilly districts of Nepal viz., Lamjung and Kaski with Sundarbazar and Pokhara as their respective study areas, during a 13 months field survey (April 2017-May 2018). A total of 146 specimens were collected from altitudes ranging from 700–830 amsl. These include Chilocorus nigritus, Coelophora saucia, Oenopia excellens, Phrynocaria sp., Scymnus sp. and Scymnus (Pullus) sp., which could be identified to the species level due to lack of a male specimen while 1 species, Serangium sp. could not be identified to the species level due to lack of enough references to compare the male genitalia with. Among the species identified accurately via genitalia dissection, all appear to be in compliance with available literature except for Jauravia assamensis which was recorded only from India (Assam) before.
