Abstract

The ultrastructure of sensilla on the wings of the cob borer Stenachroia elongella Hampson (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) were analysed with the Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). This revealed the presence of three types of sensilla viz., sensilla squamiformia (SSq), sensilla chaetica (SCh) and sensilla campaniformia (SCa); SSq and SCh were observed on both the dorsal and ventral sides of forewing and hindwing, whereas SCa was observed only on the dorsal side of the hindwing.
