Ants belonging to the family Formicidae of Hymenoptera play various ecological roles. This study on the ants compares the ones inhabiting urban habitats with those in the periurban habitats of Aurangabad in Maharashtra. Ants collected from six habitats during June 2015 to May 2016 revealed 23 species under 17 genera and six subfamilies.
