Abstract

Present study analyses the incidence of thrips Scirtothrips dorsalis Hood and mite Polyphagotarsonemus latus Banks on chilli. The observations on thrips were made just after transplanting from 34th standard week (SW) i.e. 3rd week of August and the incidence was noticed. This incidence remained throughout the cropping period (up to 2nd week of March). Peak incidence was observed during December- March (3.34/ 3 leaves). Significantly negative correlation was observed with maximum (-0.713) and minimum temperature (-0.791), minimum RH (-0.504) and rainfall (-0.460). No significant effect was observed during kharif, 2013. About mite incidence, it increased with rise of temperature during March. Significant negative correlation was observed with maximum (-0.725) and minimum temperature (-0.840), minimum RH (-0.591) and rainfall (-0.501). During kharif, 2013, maximum temperature (0.485) was observed to be significantly positive correlated with incidence.
