An investigation was conducted to assess the attraction of shot hole borer Xylosandrus compactus (Eichhoff) to various concentrations of ethyl alcohol used with Broca trap designs. The experiment was conducted in a severely infested Robusta coffee plantation at Kembatmakki village, Chikkamagaluru District, Karnataka during 2017-18. The trap with 95% ethyl alcohol, placed 15 m apart proved significantly superior over other treatments. There was no significant difference in abundance of beetles in trap catches across seasons. The trap catches proportionately increased with concentration of ethyl alcohol in the solutions.
