An experiment was conducted to assess the growth and development of black soldier fly Hermetia illucens (L.) on its larval and pupal weight, its duration, fecundity of female and bioconversion rates on organic feed substrates. Among the feed substrates, kitchen waste was found to be significantly superior observed with maximum larval (0.22 g/ larva) and pupal weights (0.20 g/ pupa). The fecundity was observed to be 698 eggs/ female when reared up to 14 days. The significantly maximum amount of feed consumed was 18100 g in 20 days, feed conversation rate (21.82) and feed conversion ratio (97.37 %) was maximum in mixed vegetables waste. This study provides baseline information in future for organic waste management.
