An analytical method of gas chromatography (GC) with flame thermionic detector (FTD) was developed and validated for the simultaneous determination of 14 organophosphorus pesticides in okra. The residues were extracted using modified QuEChERS method and validated in terms of linearity, sensitivity, precision and accuracy. The limit of quantification (LOQ) of the proposed method was 0.01 µg/ g. The developed procedure gave satisfactory recoveries for organophosphates to an extent of 85.91-114.44, 81.74-105.90 and 80.10-107.64% at 0.01, 0.05 and 0.1 µg/ g, respectively with associated RSDs of ≤ 20% for all compounds. The proposed method is highly efficient, quick, robust and consequently the method is suitable for monitoring pesticide residue in okra samples.
