Abstract

Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) is one of the vital cereals in Afghanistan but it is often infested by various species of pests. Wheat aphids Sitobion avenae F is a major threat to wheat causing yield losses. This study evaluates the efficacy of five insecticides against this pest. The treatments included profenophos 50%EC, chlorpyriphos 40%EC, acetamiprid 20 SP, cypermethrin 10%EC, and imidacloprid 20%WP. The results revealed profenophos 50%EC and chlorpyrifos 40%EC exhibited superior efficacy. Acetamiprid 20 SP was found promising, while imidacloprid 20%WP and cypermethrin 10%EC were moderate.
